Shalini Lall is an expert partner of CTT. She is a seasoned business leader and transaction banker with over 25 years of experience in the finance and banking industry, specialising in product, operations and sales. She has worked across multiple geographies in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

During her tenure as the chief operating officer of the trade finance business within Standard Chartered Bank, Shalini demonstrated a strong grasp of managing investments, costs, operational execution and risk. Responsible for overseeing a workforce of 2,500 employees across 45 locations, she successfully supported a revenue base of US$1.1bn, with US$110mn operations spend.

Shalini's key capabilities include effectively leading diverse cross-country teams, implementing operational efficiency levers like digitisation and automation, and leveraging technologies such as AI and NLP to achieve business objectives.

Her contributions to Standard Chartered Bank were significant, including spearheading the design and execution of a new target operating model for trade operations, delivering ongoing cost efficiencies, and mitigating financial crime risks. Shalini also played a vital role in promoting new tech experimentation, agile ways of working, and fostering product management and inclusion initiatives.

Shalini holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, a master’s in economics from Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, and a bachelor’s in economics from Delhi University. She has pursued executive courses from renowned institutions such as INSEAD, Moody's Analytics, and SAID Business School, University of Oxford.
